PONS Intelligence GmbH was founded in 2026 as a carve-out and subsidiary of PONS Langenscheidt GmbH. As a high-tech startup, we combine artificial intelligence and language into industry-specific business solutions for translating and conveying content.
Understanding is the foundation of every successful collaboration – within a company and between partners worldwide. Our AI is tailored precisely to individual industries and work processes, making communication simpler, better and more efficient.
PONS and Langenscheidt stand for more than a hundred years of experience in translation and language learning. We combine this tradition with modern technology. Our technology is closely linked to Laniqo, founded in 2023 together with AMU University in Poznań – PONS Intelligence grew out of Laniqo and parts of PONS Langenscheidt.
Our team brings together young and old, science and business, curiosity and experience. As part of the Klett Group, we have a solid foundation and a close connection to education. We are a European company with teams in Berlin, Poznań and Stuttgart – made in Europe with love.

Our history and our origin – PONS
We are part of PONS Langenscheidt, even though PONS Intelligence operates as an independent GmbH. We are closely connected to the content and values of PONS Langenscheidt and work together in many areas.
Klett is founded – the foundation of the publishing house and parent company of PONS Langenscheidt and PONS Intelligence.
The first green dictionary is published under the PONS brand.
The first PONS language course comes to market.
The first digital translation product is released, followed in 2008 by the free PONS online dictionary. Text translation is added in 2017.
Acquisition of the Langenscheidt brand and products – PONS GmbH becomes PONS Langenscheidt GmbH.
Laniqo is founded, an AI hub specialising in machine translation.
Launch of two AI language solutions for companies: PONS Translate Enterprise and Langenscheidt Language Coach.
PONS Intelligence starts as a subsidiary of PONS Langenscheidt, specialising in intelligent language solutions for companies.
